Capital Punishment

Hey all,
Just wondering... on the subject of Capital Punishment.. do you think it should be allowed?
I saw some really f*cked up videos today, really really violent videos showing capital punishment in an eastern country... just wondering what everyones thoughts are on countries that still hand out this punishment?

To avoid everyones disgust, the video shows 7 or 8 live beheadings, four or five people hold these people down while another goes at his neck with a saw or some kind of razor sharp knife, all this while the guy who's being beheaded is still conscious. It's very graphic but if needs must and you want to see it, let me know and i'll pm you the link. (dont be eating while you watch it though).

The Manchester Mummy

This is a pretty fascinating story, i'll do my best to describe it to you but a more indepth article can be found at Wiki.
The Manchester Mummy

To summarize, Hannah Beswick of Birchin Bower, Hollinwood, Oldham, England was a wealthy woman who had a pathological fear of premature burial. Following her death in 1758 her body was embalmed and kept above ground, to be periodically checked for signs of life, presumably on instruction from her will, which itself was contested for over 100 years after her death.
Her body has been passed around in storage/display for many years and in 1828 including the Museum of the Manchester Natural History Society. She was displayed in the entrance hall.

Bonnie Prince Charlie entered Manchester at the head of his invading army in 1745, causing Beswick some apprehension over the safety of her money, which she therefore decided to bury. Shortly before her death she promised to show her relatives where the treasure was hidden, but she did not survive long enough to do so. Her home, Birchin Bower, was converted into workers' tenements following her death. Several of those living there claimed to have seen a figure dressed in a black silk gown and a white cap, and described it as Hannah Beswick. After gliding across the house's parlour, the apparition would vanish at one particular flagstone. It is claimed that while digging to fit a new loom, a weaver living there discovered Beswick's hoard of gold, hidden underneath that same flagstone. Oliphant's, a Manchester gold dealer, paid the weaver 3 10s for each gold piece, the equivalent of almost 450 as of 2009^.

Birchin Bower was eventually demolished to make way for a Ferranti factory, but sightings of the apparition were still reported.

Jomomma's Cobra Island WIP

It started with me not having anywhere to put my toys.I wanted to display them but I also don't like to have them on shelves just collecting dust.So I wanted a display that I could use to play with or for dio pics and it could be always set up differently.So I have this table in the basement and said hmmm....

I started building the Control Room using a piece of plywood as the base and sheet rock walls.half way through I decided to add a Jail onto the side of the Control Room.

Little Big Planet : GIJOE Style

I'm thinking about doin a level on Little Big Planet involving a G.I.JOE style theme. The only thing is I'm not sure what to include in the level, i was thinking initially something like base infiltration, so at the start have Hawk brief you and in the room below you get two costumes...
Snake Eyes or Scarlett this gives the user a choice of Male/Female characters.

Then maybe a ride in the VAMP to the Terrordrome? Have guards dressed as cobra's? and maybe some BATs to shoot using the Paintinator?

Inside the terrordrome I was going to put a jail cell that you have to get to, free the two prisoners.

Thoughts on anything i could include or any inspiration would be great. The other idea I had was to just do a multi level pit kind of thing, whereby cobra have infiltrated with loads of BATs and Vipers and the task is to shoot them all and reclaim the Pit back? I could then do multi-room areas such as the briefing room and the training area and motor pool.

Custom Tomahawk Project WIP

For years, my old man nagged and nagged me to paint a T-Hawk Green. Recently I finally gave in. Although weather is currently slowing down the projects completion.

Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles

I'm not good at writing toy reviews mostly because I don't like to bother with POA. I just buy toys that I like.

So here goes:

This is a short review for the MU Gigantic Battles series. I don't collect MU but I was a fan of the ML Icons series. I developed an interest for 12" articulated figures so when Hasbro announced the Gigantic Battles series which is pretty much a 12" giant figure packed with a 3.75" MU figure I immediately got on board.

First I have to say that besides the silly twisties that holds the figure the overall design for the boxes are well done. The art shows off which charters are contains in this set and there's short description for the characters at the back.

The Icons body works pretty well for both giant figures. The first one here is Skrull Giantman. The head sculpt is very well done and the paint job here just reflects how good this sculpt is.

Goliath on the other hand is bright. The colors are really bright. He's a cool figure but his leg joints are too tight that I'm worried that I might break it. I have to dip it in hot water before moving the left knee and right hip. I think you can count him as a giant character or fit in with your 12" Icons collection since he's a size changing character.

The MU figures are decent. I didn't expect much from them but the new Cap turns out pretty nice. I like the paint job. It's clean. If anyone here collect the Toybiz Superhero showdown figures you'll know how bad paint jobs can ruin a well sculpt figure.

Bucky Cap here comes with his iconic shield, a gun and a knife. Not bad for a 3.75" figure.

Ironman is nice. I like his paint. Again it's pretty clean. Hasbro might have reduce the amount of paint on their figures when you compare them with Toybiz but I think Hasbro does a better job than TB with it comes to quality control.

Much to my surprise Hasbro is reintroducing the pack in comics. I wonder if these will continue through out the MU packs. I think the 3packs also contain a copy of Secret Wars comic.

I don't know how well MU is doing but the 3.75" scale is working better than 6" IMO. Marvel Legends has lots of great build a figures but scale wise they aren't accurate for 6" figures. However they fit in well with 3.75". I don't mind getting a couple or more 3.75" figures to battel Fing Fang Foom, or Skrull Giantman.

Rise of Cobra and Resolute on DVD

Paramount has said the DVD release for this in Canada and the US is going to be November 3rd. as well as Resolute.

while searching through ebay, I found dvds ( bootlegs?) for Sigma 6 1-26 and The mass device and Revenge of CObra DVDs as well

this piqued my curiosity, does this mean that here are possible 4 gijoe titles oh and one of the shout factory sets too, so that makes five, to be released on November 3rd?

Clone Turbo Tank

So I recently got 5 figures from overseas. G.I.JOE ones. The Seller usually has spare leaflets and stuff, for any new toys, I got a ROC leaflet and a Star Wars one. In the star wars leaflet I see that theres a clone tank It looks pretty huge and can hold up to 20 figures

I just wondered whats the Retail price of something like this and is it available in the UK?
I'd like to get one for my cobra forces

Derren Brown?

Does Derren Brown count as a modern day myth?
If not, I'll put this somewhere else...

But I was just wondering, what everyone's thoughts are on him?
And on his "events", in which he predicted the lottery, stuck me to my chair and so on?

Personally, I believe he has some sort of gift, but I think it's possible he might have some sort of mental disorder.

But, yeah, what are everyone else's thoughts on him?
