The Loch Ness Monster is a creature, most commonly speculated to be from a line of long-surviving plesiosaurs,[3] that is reputed to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is similar to other supposed lake monsters in Scotland and elsewhere, though its description varies from one account to the next. Popular interest and belief in the animal has fluctuated since it was brought to the world's attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal, with minimal and much disputed photographic material and sonar readings. The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a modern-day myth, and explains sightings as a mix of hoaxes and wishful thinking. Despite this, it remains one of the most famous examples of cryptozoology. The legendary monster has been affectionately referred to by the nickname Nessie[4]Scottish Gaelic: Niseag)[1] since the 1950s. __________________

Reply with quote | #2 | It would be lovely if Nessie were real, but alas I feel she's just a myth. |

Reply with quote | #3 | I don't think Nessie's real either, but it's a great marketing tool. |

Reply with quote | #4 | What?? Nessie isn't real??
Is it the hoax photograph I posted up? What leads you guys to come to the final conclusions you come to?
I'm baiting here (get it?) for you to discuss this in more detail, perhaps we could start with some identification and some sightings and work our way from those.
I'm all for open debate on stuff, particularly anything that requires evidence. I'm eager to hear anyones viewpoint on Nessie, so please do let me know why/how in particular you've been drawn to your conclusion. Another question to ask yourself on both this and the Bigfoot subject, do you think that because they are marketable... and used as tourist attractions it deflects from their truthfulness or probability in them being real? __________________

Reply with quote | #6 | Perhaps there was a Loch Ness monster long ago, but I think certainly not now. There has been sonar detection, even a guy with a wet suit crossed the lake one time. __________________
