Reply with quote | #1 | Hey So I was witness to something strange in the night sky on September the 14th. Rather than tell a story on it, I think it would be best to base copy what I sent to MAPIT. This is a local agency based here in Manchester that investigate Aerial Phenomena. For those who have never spoken to me or know me personally, I am very black and white when it comes to sorting things out. As a direct result, I'd rather speak to someone who investigates and views these things professionally than sell my story to the press. So without further babbling here is what I sent to MAPIT by email shortly after witnessing the strange phenomena.
Dear Stephen, I am writing to you to report a strange light/object in the sky. I witnessed this at 09:05pm on 14th September 2009. I wasn't the initial witness, as I was summoned by my mother from my own bedroom to follow her at around 09:02pm. She had watched this light from her own bedroom window for a few minutes previous. Her initial thought was that it was a plane/aircraft, however the light was approaching and had not made or emitted any flashing light which are usually associated with terrestrial/commercial aircraft. I got to the bedroom window of my mums room and looked up into the sky, it wasn't cloudy and was clear enough, what I saw was a circular white light that was moving quickly across the sky. The objects light didn't flash and the object continued to move, as the object moved out of view I ran downstairs into the back garden to observe the object a minute or two more, I was joined by my older brother who witnessed the object as well, through his binoculars he tracked it for a few seconds then asked me to have a look, when I got the binoculars and managed to bring it into view I couldn't see any red or blue lights or any tail or wings.. it was a circular white/bright light, at some point in the sky it appeared to 'power down' and then disappear out of view, almost fading into the night sky, I could still see the object and caught a slight glimpse of the outline of the object move or bank in a sharp right movement and I then lost track of it. I am unsure if the object went up into the sky out of view or too far away in the distance for me to continuously view it. I would welcome your feedback or explanation after examination of the incident, I would also be interested in hearing if anybody else witnessed this same object/light in the sky. The evening was very clear and I would be hoping that because I do not have photographic or video evidence, that someone else has reported the incident. My location is Denton, Manchester. My age is 29. My full contact details are below should you wish to speak to me privately about the incident.
Regards
Ok. So now that you have read the letter. Allow me to copy what I got in response to this. Stephen was kind enough to investigate this and do whatever checks he felt necessary to rule out certain aircraft or other phenomena.
Hi Richard, thanks for reporting your sighting to MAPIT. We can confirm at this time that this sighting had not been reported to us. What you have seen certainly sounds quite strange. I have eliminated the possibility of a misidentification of meteorological and astronomical phenomena and frankly am a bit stumped. I am aware that there certainly are odd things flying around our skies as I have witnessed these things for myself. MAPIT will keep a log of your sighting and will inform you if we obtain any correlating reports in the future. Thanks for reporting this incident & sorry I could not help in identifying what you saw. Steve Mera
Ok. So I still don't know what it is I saw. The next stage/step is obvious hard evidence. I need to record this orb of light, or whatever it is. The problem is, as often with unexplained aerial phenomena is that you dont always have the camera charged or with you, preparing for something thats unexplained or so random... it would mean you would spend your life with a camera by your side... soo... if thats what it is going to take, I'm going to do it. I'm still on the fence about this myself as i mentioned before the email and response I am very black and white, if i am going to believe something.. then I need to see evidence and facts.. not fiction and tricks. I refuse to admit that its some alien spacecraft, but who knows.. and again i wont rule out military testing until i can gather more information on it. I guess I need to gather more evidence and keep a stern look to the skies. What about you forum members reading, have what I put down in my email recollect anything you have seen? Anything you've heard from witnesses previously or friends and family? This is totally open to discussion and i'd welcome discussion on this sighting.

Reply with quote | #3 | From what I have described can you think of anything that you have seen or heard from relatives/friends that match this in description?
As for the weather balloon, Yeah i'd expect that from a government based agency, however this agency I reported to is independent investigation team based locally. As far as I am aware they are independently run anyway.

My honest answer, I really couldnt say an exact size. If i was to compare the light, it would be a circular white bright object about the same size as an air balloon. It just didnt display the same properties as an air balloon. It wasn't hugely massive for example like a mothership or anything like that. But it was big enough to spot with the naked eye. __________________

Reply with quote | #6 | So, it appears I am not the only one spotting orbs of light in the Manchester sky. I have just registered to a forum. Where several people from the area have also spotted these orbs. What's more is that someone on Youtube has provided video evidence of the same thing I was witness to in September. It appears to be down for maintenance, but when it is back up I will provide the link.
